Dreamtime: The Infiltration

This week I have been completely sleep deprived and yesterday was the worst of it, I could barely stay awake. I expected smooth, dream less sleep last night but did I get it? Nay. Nay I did not.
What I got, was a nightmare of sorts.

It was a variation of a dream I think I've had before, or only think I think I've had before... you know how dreams work. Otherwise, it's a fairly common sci-fi/horror movie staple so it could have come from there.

I was at 'school' (in reality, my workplace) and firstly someone there was trying to find a way to post rude things/porn/illegal downloads etc on their work/school computer without being noticed. I saw them, but didn't say anything as they were an otherwise good person. These people are from all walks of my life but dream me knows them as 'work friends.' I see my other (actual) work friends coming back from a costume party, one's an extremely casual pirate. Oh, the irony!

Next, we're all shepherded into what seems to be an aerodrome sort of thing. It is.. at the same time, very big, and not very vast at all. I'm at the back of the room behind a pillow fort of sorts. There are other ones strategically located around the room, there is a small door behind us and a large, airplane size door. Also present is a computer terminal, some saddlebags and a small window where army/airforce/suspicious guys watch us.

A few of us are talking and don't really seem to be worried about any imminent doom. There are so many people here that I know but I don't. I read somewhere that your brain remembers every face you meet just so it can screw you up like this because you technically *do* know these people... but you likely haven't met, ever.

Next, the monster is released, and we need to work together to contain it. The 'memory' I have of the original monster was some gross, non-slimy worm thing with legs that basically just mowed us down like a creepy steamroller but this time it was a stealth infiltration.

Requiem for a Dream Heist

So last night I had another crazy dream.

It was kind of like a heist movie but with some family drama thrown in.

Like, it was me and this middle aged black guy, and this much old white guy. We did all these heists perfectly, with barely a word spoken between us.
Things kind of got weird though, as they are wont to do in my dreams.

Basically my sister in law came to visit with her kids because they hadn't seen us in a while. This is fine, but they came without any notice (unless you count a brief SMS half an hour prior to shifting four kids, yourself and a partner interstate.) That's mental!

Anyway, the next weird thing was an attempt to stop a heist, which involved a man-generated earthquake. No one died, but it made a huge rift right where our Japanese themed hotel was - between that and the MacDonald's across the street.

So as we're running away... we have to jump over trenches filled with Macca's fries.

I run past a detective who luckily doesn't see me. The black guy ducks into a nearby barber shop and sits in the first available seat posing as a customer, despite being bald and clean faced. I run out the back and into an antechamber of sorts that somehow has entrances to several other stores like a fancy bar and a restaurant and a retail store.

Posing as a waitress, no-one at the restaurant seems to care because they're all in on it.

Which.... now that I think about it, is a really bad business plan for a secret thieving ring.

Later, the other men try to get me to leave the gig as it's too risky, there's a sweet moment where the really old guy seems determined to leave his fingerprints on his calling card to let us get away scot free (even though we were chilling in a bar, and apparently got off scot free anyway) then some jerk at the table besides us says something like we were ripped off about something and the old man Luigi Death-stared him.

So what was this?

Was I hungry for Macca's? Desperate to plan a cool looking heist? Able to juggle random family visits and my job like it's Christmas? I don't know.

We didn't even seem to get any loot. I'm pretty sure we just did the  bad ass walk thing like yeeeahhh.... if we were *actually* gonna steal stuff, this is how we'd do it.

T Swift vs. The World

I want to comment on something I just read today. It was a Mary Sue article -

Taylor Swift Is a Silence Breaker…When It Comes to Sexual Assault by Princess Weekes | 12:00 pm, Dec 11th 2017

  - about Taylor Swift and how she's a silence breaker on sexual assault and not much else.

So apparently there's some neo Nazi thing going on and quite a lot of them are fans of Taylor?
I mean, I knew something of neo Nazi's but I guess I didn't figure them for Swifties?
Wait, is that racist? Hmm.

Anyway, not being American, this is the first I've heard of it but in this article about how awesome and empowering she was there's a little nagging voice saying yes, but she should really be defeating Nazi's like Captain America/Wonder Woman if she wanted to be taken seriously.

Which to me is one step away from being a wee bit victim blamey. Like yeah Taylor Swift, great job showing that pervert who's boss but let's face it, you aren't calling these Nazi's out are you? Maybe if you'd thrown your shield/tiara at them you wouldn't have been grabbed inappropriately?

Yes - Nazi's are not a good thing. Can we not let her get past this incident first? Maybe after being sexually assaulted and made fun of by the internet as a whole and bullied/further harassed by Kartrashian-Wests maybe she doesn't want to be the poster child for anything else right this second.

Unlike what the OP above thinks, that Taylor should be crusading against the Nazi's and denouncing Trump and juggling fire sticks while balancing on her head and stopping world hunger - I think she should be given a chance to take a friggin' breath.

Now, as someone who has enjoyed T-Swift’s music, but finds everything else ranging from grating to obnoxious, I think the one thing we should all rally behind her for is her court case. That asshole DJ had the raw-ass audacity to sue Swift for lost wages after the artists told his boss that he grabbed her ass. She countersued for $1 and called out that asshole for putting her and her family through this mess of a trial for his own ego. This dingleberry of a human still hasn’t paid Swift the dollar. Her interview with Time is powerful and important: her rage and aggression is perfect. Regardless of how you feel about her, according to RAINN there was a 35% increase on their crisis hotline during and after Swift’s trial. That is important and that alone is reason alone for her to be included in this article, which is about tributing women who spoke out about sexual assault.
However, that does not mean a discussion shouldn’t be had about her lack of political awareness in other areas.

While I understand how important it is to be vocal about important matters and that celebrity voices often have more weight than your average Joe, Taylor Swift is.. a music personality. She's not a politician or an outright activist - we shouldn't be looking to her alone to solve serious political and racial issues.

Adventures in Dreamtime

So I had a weird night last night followed by what appeared to be a delirium induced dream.

I hadn't gotten much sleep the previous night, and neither had our friends (due to their young son vehemently refusing bedtime) so the only one of us who was well rested was my husband I think.

Anyway, we had a good night and were able to settle their son at a more reasonable hour and then got on to drinking, chatting and watching Jackass #2.

stage one

The Mr's got pretty blotto but not unmanageable (although after we got home I got tired of waiting for him to come to bed so I turned the light off and was rewarded with a stirring rendition of 'hello darkness my old friend....' with the irony being that we actually lost the sound of silence that night.

stage two

So I had a lot of things on my mind and drifted uneasily to sleep where I apparently had a pretty intense dream that was pretty convincingly real.

I was working in a call centre where all the calls are recorded, one of my co-workers was in on a murder scheme with me and my manager managed to pick up on that (I don't know how exactly.. in real life she's a bit of a thick headed, vapid idiot)

It all culminated at a strange mint themed mother's day party at my relative's house... which began with about ten of us having a pet race (the pets were pretty stupid too... or they may have been confused) then my co-murderer and I went downstairs (a flight or two) that suddenly became more like ten and several celebrities and co-workers were draped across it along with their crap, entourages and also their pets.

Bullying

I've seen a lot of this image being circulated on Facebook and can I say that it really bugs me that kids have to resort to social media because bullies/parents/teachers/schools/whatever just don't want to listen or step in?

I mean, this is 2014. We really should have evolved beyond bulling, sexism, racism, homophobia... all these hateful things. Then I think, this is the generation that is going to be so technologically integrated that they won't know what to do with a pencil and here they are growing up in a world where trolls seemingly have so much power.

Going back to my days at primary school - I got teased. I'd just moved here from England and admittedly, I had a pretty squeaky voice that was hard to understand with my thick accent. So I learnt to be quiet unless spoken to.

Literally, I can't... Literally you shouldn't!

I thought I'd check the news today and one headline jumped out at me...

"The women just went crazy!"

Of course I clicked on it! Then, the page couldn't be found which only deepened my suspicions. What the hell happened today?! I googled that headline and found a couple of hits.
Turns out it was just Red Foo and a bunch of idiots being Red Foo and a bunch of idiots.

Basically, they'd released a song and were subsequently butt hurt because they felt that they were unjustly attacked by those wicked, wicked feminists, female bloggers, well, basically females in general. Why do these women have so many agendas? Why are they out to hurt poor Red Foo?
Let's have a look..

In other news, Katy Perry does something else stupid...

It's no secret that I have no love for Katy Perry. Her willingness to sue someone because they used their real name (her stage name), the sickening sugar pop that keeps spewing out over the airwaves, her overused expressions and stupid outfits..

Another thing. Her lyrics. She is insanely popular, but her songs could be written by fourth graders. The raps by her guest artists are surprisingly worse. I mean, raps! You expect hardcore content and you get Snoopy the Lion or whatever he is now rambling incoherently about marshmallows or something. Maybe Katy had them or something similar shooting out from her boob-cannons again.

My main complaint today is from her new album Prism. Roar is catchy enough, but I can't get it out of my head that someone was listening to the Rocky soundtrack and got mysteriously inspired.. maybe by Robin Thicke's selective hearing muse? Unconditionally is so boring and lame.. it's like she realised that while she's hit every demographic from stereotypical California girls to vibrating aliens, cheating heterosexual lesbian lovers to temperature challenged folks.. she's never yet hit the wedding demographic.

Dark Horse.... I LOVE THE MUSIC. I CAN'T STAND ANYTHING ELSE.

Lucky Tiger Vs the King Hit

I have had trouble understanding the term ‘King-hit’. I know what it means, that some jerk has punched you in the back of the head and knocked you to the ground. It’s just the name is hard to get around, similar to the so called ‘honour killings’.

Violently murdering or otherwise abusing a female family member for living her life, being raped, not wanting to marry the jerk you’re trying to force her to marry or even saying ‘hi’ to a male grocery store clerk is definitely an honour killing. Only, it’s not bringing you ‘back’ any honour, you’re just squeezing the life out of any honour your family may have held at one stage.

So in a way, it’s like a twisted play on words. With ‘king hit’ I’ve always found it distasteful to even consider punching someone in a fairly cowardly way ‘king like’. This morning in the shower, I had a ponder and now I think that this is another wicked word play.

After all, most kings are jerks, right? All with the being rich while the nation starves, chopping and changing of wives, dungeons, creating your own religion because you can, etc etc. It would be just like one of those douchebag kings to have their many lackeys hold someone back so Mr Royalty could ‘win’ the fight.

Suicide Squad Seven - The Alliterating Issue

Yes, it’s that time of the month again, so dig out your hot pants, get ready to storm Gotham PD and grab that skinned off Joker face because it’s the SUICIDE SQUAD #7 REVIEW!

Assuming I read like a normal person, let’s start with the cover. When I first saw this cover, I didn’t like it. Now I can see it full size it’s kind of growing on me, like Joker flesh on Deadshot’s face.(Tee hee) The new Harley Quinn logo surprised me, as last time they just stole her old one. You know, the one from the ‘original’ DC universe pre-reboot, post-pre-infinite... ehh... you know what I mean. The one that doesn’t exist anymore, or kind of does in some ways, but only in ways DC can make money off it.. Ehhh, you know what I mean.

When we last left off in Suicide Squad, Harley was being taken in by the police force in Gotham after surrendering in the street – the idea being that it would be easier to get to her target that way. This totally cock blocked the rest of the squad from getting to her, and boy, were they pissed. So, when page one opened on some random plan about distracting the cops with some holographic imprint on King Shark I was kinda like... What?

I mean, this is GOTHAM. Batman Gotham. Something attacks them, and before you know it, good old commish is on the horn to every damn bat in the city. To be honest, there are a lot of bats in Gotham city. How could they be sure that this wouldn’t attract Batman?

Spelling-bound

Another topic dear to my heart is spelling. I've always been more of a book person than a math person, so I can understand how other people might be the other way around. Maybe they never had the education I did, maybe they had a better one.

We are going far beyond the realms of 'their', 'there' or 'they're'.

Aformations are for the week come at me society
worst f**king headace and saw legs from walkin home.

DC New 52 - The Awkward Panels

While I've been catching up on the new DC 52... I found some interesting panels to offer up. Let me know what you think about these little eye catchers.

From Batgirl #3:

Drag your eyes away from the epic sight of Batgirl hitching a ride on Gotham's notorious rail service and what do you see? What's that? 'For a good time, call the Red Hood?' Oh myyyyy.

A Mortal Kombat Roast: Toasty!

Well, I seem to have misplaced myself. Where have I been? Yeah, small vacation to sort myself out, a buttload of assignments to successfully complete and then an actual vacation. By the way, I'm totally back.

More on those topics later - for now... Mortal Kombat 9!

Totally banned in Australia, but not from sale because I've heard tales of the many who have parted with their pennies to own it. So, I've seen some game play, not much but I thought I'd share my opinions on it. I haven't played a Mortal Kombat game properly because of my unreasonable trust of 3D game play and strange preference for Super Nintendo games.

I grew up with these games, and feasted on the bloodshed, storyline and interesting characters. So when my brother told me that he'd heard that this game had some strong ties to the older games, with some Back to the Future shizzle going on I was very interested.

However.. as awesome as the skull cam is.. man is it annoying to watch the same footage of internal damages, the screaming, and then the victim getting back on their feet after two seconds of hemorrhaging declaring that they're fine. What?! All that damage for nothing?! Stay down and shut up, damn it!

The women's clothing - no surprises here. They suck. I'm not just saying that because I'm sick of looking at gravity defying fake boobies.. but because it honestly grates on my nerves. Let's have a look at Sonya Blade. Once a great soldier, now she's wearing a painted on suit, including an army vest and dog tags.. with no bra. With no bra. No bra? What? Obviously there are no women working on the design team and/or it's entirely filled will blokes who like to wear burlap sacks around their privates and think everyone else should join them in a world of pain, scratching and disgusting habits.

But it’s not just that.. it’s that these women are given less and less clothing with each new game, while the men get more layers and more weapons. I mean sure, no one really wants to see Shao Kahn in a loin cloth but it did add a touch of realism. I look at these outfits and I want to SCREAM! Unless you’re made of Superman/Supergirl, you should really cover your soft underbelly unless like Mileena, you find being covered in your own blood and entrails damn hot.

Part of me would like to suggest that going out into the arena like this is saying to your opponent – ‘Hey, nice blades, but I don’t fear you enough to wear armour.’ The smarter part of me knows that no one thought about the women this way, and they’re only almost naked because it sells. This makes me sad and violent. Is it too much to ask for a few realistic characters?

Zombie Liu Kang, sure. Multi-limbed beings of terror, yes please. Trees that talk back, why not? Time travel – of course. All of this is believable.. I’m not asking for three dimensional characters and things that make sense. I’m asking for at least one fucking woman character that looks battle appropriate. If you wouldn’t wear that into a combat area, or zombie invasion or on a date with a being that eats souls.. DON’T MAKE ANYONE ELSE WEAR IT.

Now Kitana.. what’s with her hair? Why is it doing a Sindel? Sure, she’s her daughter but still.. so annoying. Didn’t Jade used to have some sort of ethnicity?

It kinda bothers me that the Klassic Kostumes for Kitana and Jade are being called horrible granny swimsuits.. I have images of the future offspring of these commentators running around in g-strings and pasties at the beach, because anything that vaguely covers the buttocks is apparently so incredibly old fashioned that only surfing grandmas would wear them.

If I had to describe granny swimsuits, I’d probably refer to the modest 1920’s bathing suits as I haven’t really seen many geriatrics at the beach lately. Although having said that, with many women having children younger, grannies aren’t as old as they stereotypically are anymore.

Mortal Kombat’s newest release has not performed an amazing fatality over my Super Nintendo games but it has killed a part of my love for it. I’m just not as interested as I used to be, even though I like the new features, and the beautiful graphics and all that. Although the battle realistic damage to the clothes seems to have a glitch in that it only seems to affect the women’s outfits around the privates. I’m sure they’ll get right on to fixing that very soon.

I’m a girl who loves sex, adores fighting and encourages blood thirsty battles, but it hurts the few feelings I have to know that the makers of MK don’t consider me their target audience at all and continue to pander to fanboys. It’s not doing them any favours either, fanboys and girls hardly get respect as it is.

It would be nice to have a game that didn’t make me feel like I’ve just wandered into the dirty video section of the rental store. It would be nice to have a fighting game where it’s about fighting, not just supermodels and thugs. Don’t we have enough sex and violence going on? Aren’t there enough sexed up parodies of females in military/combat roles?

Final word: You’re all soft for having the walk throughs teaching you how to do fatalities lol

Train Spotting AKA The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Today I'm writing about this article on a boy that got hit by a train.

footage-released-of-boy-being-hit-by-train Via NineMSN 15:30 AEST Fri Aug 26 2011

When I first read that title I was like, 'no way are they going to show some kid getting killed!' Of course, they didn't. The lucky ass kid survived. I hope he didn't lose too many brain cells because frankly, he needs them.
Obviously I'm not sitting in my chair gleefully rubbing my hands together at the prospect of people getting hit by trains, but at the risk of 'victim blaming' I'm still going to say that if you run over train tracks, you're kind of asking for it.

Failure to Communicate

There has actually been a little drama going on in my life! Well, it depends who you talk to. I'm not exactly a drama llama, I keep to myself and don't spoil for fights. Most people I'm not close friends with find it easy to ignore me. UNLESS!! Something I've said could relate to them in their past, present or future. Which is probably why I'm not a big fan of people.

General Scenario:
Lucky Tiger: ....and that's my view of our political situation.
Random: Uh huh.
Lucky Tiger: This is one lovely day we're having, isn't it?
Random: Mmmm.
Lucky Tiger: Oh crap, my head's on fire!!
Random: You don't say.
Lucky Tiger: Don't look now but *you're* head is on fire too!!
Random: OMFGWTFHALP!!!1!!!111!!!!
Lucky Tiger: Lolz JKs
Random: ....what?

As for the rest of my week that wasn't consumed with the worshipping of comic character statues and books, well, I've been quite sick. Not actually sick, but damn near incapacitated on two nights with migraines and nausea. The day times held no problems. Just those two nights. Monday, I think I may have just been dehydrated but I'm not sure what happened the next night.

Nothing major though and I'm glad to be back on track. I went to the doctor anyway and had a blood test. I've never been too good with needles, but apparently I'm getting better. They hurt so much more putting something in as opposed to taking something out. This crazy lady was just taking vials and vials of my precious blood and all I could think about was the little sucky noise it was making.
