Okay, so there's a lot of hype about planking at the moment. I know my ears perked up when I heard about it! Only I thought we were going to be pushing people off planks with swords, like pirates do in movies. Again my dreams were dashed, because planking, for those who have no idea (...somehow.. ) is basically taking a picture of yourself lying facedown somewhere.. for some reason.
I guess it's kind of like how people take those novelty photos of themselves pushing the Leaning Tower of Pisa back, or holding cruise ships up (guilty!) and what have you, but this just seems kind of silly. Especially since at least one person has died doing it and others have been given warnings from police.
As for me, I don't really understand it. You have to be really bored to find stuff like this to do. Someone probably took *one* amazing photo like this and now everyone has to get in on it, which in a way has destroyed it.
It's just that everyone who does it seems content to follow the trend, and even if they pull something incredible off, they're going to have to convince the world it was them because obviously, their face is down.
I think this trend was just started by someone who just didn't want to smile for photos anymore. Come on, we all have one of those in our social circles.
"Here's a picture of us enjoying a holiday in Spain! .....Except for *Dave*. FUCK YOUUUU, DAVE!!"
They just won't smile and when they do it's a horrible face pulling one that screams I'm just messing with your head and your photo album! That'll teach you to want to remember me in a good way!
