Ho-ho-holiday!

How was your Christmas, she asks fist deep into January.
Mine was good. As usual, I stockpile like a zombie obsessed paranoid freak does during the year. I wish I was just saying that as a comparison and not the truth.. but hey, better safe than missing brains. 'S what Gran always says.

This year, one of my co-workers invited me to their Kiwi Brunch, which was heaps fun and despite the zombie thoughts, didn't involve eating any New Zealanders. I'm not really a fan of Kiwi fruit anyway.
After that, we went to my parent's for a meet and greet, complete with giftage. After that, an extended family reunion at my grandparent's place.

Ended up playing soccer for a good three hours, in my cute clothes and skirt. Well, like that's ever stopped me doing anything, anyway. I've always been good at kicking stuff, but my sister and her partner who play the sport constantly said good things about my involvement. They even said that if I could ever play by the rules I could probably pinch hit for them on their team.

Damn the rules! Always keepin' the woman down!!

After that, we went to Panda's people's. We'd already been to theirs for the Christmas Eve shindig/hootenanny, as they were working Christmas Day or visiting other relatives. It sounded hectic, but it was actually really relaxing. I wasn't able to make it to church this year because of other commitments but to be honest, I hate this time of year for church. It's always full of those once a year people or parents of the kids roped into playing shepherds or one of ten million angels on a tiny stage.

I didn't give out many cards this year because hey, Australians really don't seem to appreciate them. The ones I did had religious messages or at least 'Merry Christmas' and not 'Happy Holidays'.
I really don't agree with that. Don't like the religious stuff? Don't celebrate the day. Go and do your own thing, but don't try and water the holiday down because it doesn't agree with your beliefs.

Lord knows Ramadan won't stand for you walking around wishing the participants a 'Happy Holiday'. Passover, Hannukah, Yom Kippur, Kwanzaa, Diwali etc don't want it either. Catholics and Christians need to take a stand. Stop letting people replace Jesus the saviour with a fat red man who likes to make people spend money.

Geez, we didn't take all that time and effort converting a pagan holiday into one of our own to let some no-faith people do it to us! (lol)
